The main
Henry Holliday East window at Holy Cross Church, Uckfield was suffering from
chronic paint loss. According to church records the paint started failing soon
after Powells installed it. By way of recompense Whitefriars replaced the heads
and hands. The degradation in the remaining paint continued throughout the 20th
century and by the 1990's virtually all paint had gone. To restore the window
the bold decision was taken to re cut and paint the remaining (majority) of the
glass in Holliday's style.
